Mid Wales was home to the last remaining Native Red Kites. Now, due to the hard work of the Conservation bodies here in Wales, Red Kites are once again in ascendance and now we have the greatest density and diversity of birds of prey in southern Britain.
At Gigrin Farm the Red Kites are fed daily at 3pm (summer time) and 2pm ( in winter), every day of the year. The number of Kites visiting the station can vary from a few dozen to more than four hundred, depending on the weather and the time of year. Gigrin Farm is approximately 30 minutes drive from the cottage.
